Richard Newton

Solicitor

Richard has a BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematics and Business Management, following which he initially worked as an analyst in the steel industry.  Deciding to retrain he embarked upon the GDL with the LPC naturally following, completing the latter in 2018 with distinction.  After having completed his period of recognised training he qualified as a solicitor in 2020.

Richard has a varied caseload with an emphasis on matters with a contentious element where he has been able to deploy transferrable analytical skills, together with his knowledge of property law and practice, to assist Court of Protection patients who have been the subject of financial misconduct at the hands of third parties. This broadly ranges from matters of family members misappropriating funds, to complex litigation against local authorities, former professionals and fiduciaries.

Richard has also represented and advocated for Stonegate Legal’s clients at NHS Continuing Healthcare funding appeals.

In addition, Richard manages various cases for clients outside of the Court of Protection, ranging from matters concerning the administration of estates such as obtaining grants of representation / probate, to litigation primarily around estate disputes.
